In my feminine yoga classes we nourish our bodies, we ground ourselves and we balance our hormones. Every class consists of arriving on the mat through breathing, checking in with ourselves or a guided meditation and some knowledge sharing. This is then followed by slow movement like (Moon/Sun) Salutations, stretches or strengthening exercises and to close the class we rest, breath and/or do a check-in to see what changed in our feelings and energy levels. I always invite you to practice along your menstrual cycle or in tune with the moon. Because often we experience that our menstrual cycle is aligned with the full or new moon.
Feminine Yoga creates an inclusive, safe and nurturing space for everyone who has a menstrual cycle, no matter if it's present or not. My classes are for anyone who would like to incorporate more gentle movement but also more rest and relaxation into their everyday life. Since I feel like we all need a little more of all of this, I would love to see you on the mat to move and wind down together.
I also offer 1:1 sessions for those who need a little more personlized support. Find more infos on the 1:1 sessions here.
A bit of history and knowledge around feminine yoga:
Yoga was invented by men for men, hard to believe since in western culture it is mostly women who practice and teach yoga. The approach of classical yoga is made for the male body and includes many masculine poses (Asanas).
However, in Feminine Yoga, inspiration comes from the female anatomy, physiology, hormones, cycle and course of life. Feminine Yoga is calming and nourishing. It is a practice that celebrates the feminine, both physically, emotionally and spiritually. It is about how to best support women through all the small and large transitions and changes in their lives (puberty (menarche), motherhood (matrescence), perimenopause & menopause (wise women)).
The female central element is the uterus (In German: Gebärmutter, in Norwegian: livmor), also called Shakti, which is the center of our feminine power and accompanies us through our first period, monthly cycles, pregnancies, births and menopause.
Our masculine-influenced daily lifes affect the feminine body, which is constantly changing. Feminine Yoga creates an inclusive, safe and nurturing space for women who bleed, are pregnant, give birth, breastfeed & sweat.
